This course is designed to assist departments that are contemplated the use of large diameter hose. This course could bring up subjects that had not been considered previously. Instruction will introduce many of the uses of large diameter hose, including illustrations to aide in the understanding of large diameter hose.
The presentation will cover the following topics:
realistic needs and uses of large diameter hose in fire department operations, including pros and cons normally associated with the initial thoughts and planning of this type use
presentation of the friction loss of large diameter to lesser diameter hoses is used
discussion of all the adapters and equipment available that can be used with large diameter hose and how these assist in making the use of this type hose flexible at the fire scene
integration with existing operations and equipment
based on the water system and hydrant locations in the area of response, what could be the operational concepts that you establish for this type operation
ISO “requirements” based on a survey of you department with your use of large diameter hose
scenarios in your area of response will provide actual examples of LDH use.
